The Overpass is the story of a young woman caught between an essay that never ends and her Grandfather’s last moments alive. As she delves deeper into the subject matter of her essay, Bobby Sands’ 1981 Hunger Strike, her Grandfather walks back and forth on the highway Overpass that looms above her. He is looking for his deceased wife and looking for a way back to his Maritime hometown on the Bay of Fundy. Caught between her Grandfather’s memories, her best friend’s attempts to calm her down and Bobby Sand’s poetry, the young woman reflects on the physical and mental prisons that hold us back from the freedom for which we yearn.
